Joking conversations about the legend of Peter Stuyvesant’s wooden leg, inspired the creation of a bit of a surprise for a local organization.  A “relic” mysteriously appeared at their offices, although they eventually deduced the source.  A tea-stained and wax sealed note from Elizabeth Fish included instructions on caring for the contents of the linen wrapped package.  Wrapped in twine the package contained an aged, paper box.  Inside the box was a vial containing shavings from the wooden leg –  well, pencil shavings.  The precious vial was nestled on a hand-stitched, aged and soiled velvet cushion.
